Elementary Music Teaching Intern

MelodiousOne Educational Institute (MEI) is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable Elementary Music Teaching Intern to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate music experiences for elementary-age students.
This is a paid, part-time educational internship at $20/hour designed for aspiring educators and musicians who want meaningful, hands-on teaching experience in a personalized learning environment.
The intern will receive instructional guidance, materials, supervision, and mentoring from MEI leadership while developing the skills and confidence to plan and lead music instruction independently within MEI’s established program framework. Responsibility will increase based on the intern’s readiness, consistency, and demonstrated teaching skills.
Responsibilities may include:
- Preparing and delivering developmentally appropriate elementary music lessons
- Leading songs, vocal warm-ups, rhythm activities, movement experiences, and creative musical activities
- Teaching beginning music literacy, listening skills, and foundational music concepts
- Facilitating percussion, classroom instruments, and introductory instrumental experiences
- Preparing and organizing instructional materials
- Supporting positive classroom routines and student transitions
- Adapting activities to meet individual and group learning needs
- Leading instruction independently as appropriate
- Monitoring student participation and progress
- Reflecting on lessons and incorporating feedback from MEI instructional leadership
- Supporting occasional performances, demonstrations, or special music activities when applicable
Schedule
Thursdays, 12:30–1:30 PM
Beginning September 17, 2026
This internship follows MEI’s academic calendar; sessions will not be held during scheduled school closures, holidays, or intercessions.
Commitment
This internship is designed as a long-term professional learning experience. Applicants should be able to commit for a minimum of 6–8 weeks, with preference given to students interested in serving for a full academic term or the full school year.
Continuing placements may be renewed based on performance, program needs, and student availability.
Compensation
$20/hour for scheduled internship hours.

Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Basic music literacy and musicianship
- Interest in teaching and working with elementary-age students
- Ability or willingness to develop lesson-planning and instructional skills
- Dependability and consistent attendance
- Professional communication and conduct
- Creativity, patience, and flexibility when working with young learners
- Willingness to receive feedback and grow as an educator
- Ability to complete MEI orientation and required background screening before beginning the placement
Previous classroom teaching experience is not required. Students who are ready to develop greater instructional independence are strongly encouraged to apply.

Academic Credit
Students may pursue internship, practicum, fieldwork, or service-learning credit when permitted by their college or university. Students are responsible for confirming academic-credit requirements with their institution, and MEI will work with approved faculty or program supervisors when feasible.
